The Algarve

This southernmost province of Portugal enjoys a relaxed, timeless ambience. The hospitable Portuguese will help you enjoy their landscape of lush hills and neat farmland leading down to spectacular golden beaches, many flanked by dramatic cliffs and rock formations.

Developments have been controlled, so although there are a few resorts like Quateira and Albufeira, the ambience of white painted homes of the fishing villages is what prevails. Of course the Algarve is also famous as the birthplace of resort golf.
